Club Volunteer of the Year 2002 - Bruce Melick

From the time he could ride a snowmobile, Bruce has spent countless volunteer hours on Magnetawan Ridge Runners trails. In the off-season, after school and on weekends Bruce is out breaking and brushing trails; during the snowmobile season he helps in staking the lake trail, which takes true understanding of the lake and its elements. Bruce also spends time grooming, monitoring and reporting on trails. All of these tasks are done with a mature attitude and caution towards safety.

It is heartening to see a 17 year-old take such interest and devote so much of his free time as well as recruiting his friends to help the club when they can. Every club needs someone like Bruce on their team – thank you Bruce!

Club Volunteer of the Year 2004 - Jason Fraser

Jason has done brushing, chopping, sawing, beaver dam clearing, checking beaver dam ice thicknesses with wet feet, grooming, bridge refurbishing, trail signage and any other item that needs to be done -- whenever it needs doing. Whenever anyone needs a hand Jason is there to help.

A snowmobiler from a very young age, Jason saw volunteers working to keep the trails enjoyable, so this past winter he attended PSSDs Volunteer Coordinator course, and is now showing others how much fun it is to be a volunteer.

After taking the Trail Patrol course, and the Trail Patrol Instructor course, he says he is now all set for training volunteers and is looking forwardto the start of the snowmobile season.

As a club the Magnetawan Ridge Runners highly value this young man, and know that he has a great future in organized snowmobiling. Along with a great sense of humor, Jason has excellent work ethics, is friendly, organized and a great asset to any one who knows him!
